Emperor's cup 2017:Defeat by Giant-killing

On July 12th, Okayama faced J league division 3 club, AC Nagano Parceiro in the rival's home stadium. At this sec, some players such as Takeda, Ito and Watanabe were back from an injury list, therefore the club were expected to beat Nagano.


Contrary to expectations, headcoach, Nagasawa's gameplan didn't work well. During the match, the red-uniformed men struggled to take the initiative of the game. While, former Fagiano attacker, Kobayashi and his teammate, Sato aggressively kept pushing forward.


After the break, Okayama conceded an opening goal and later, they were not able to equalize the game. As a result, Nagasawa's men were defeated and missed the chance to meet the division 1 club at Emperor's cup 2017

Match Review 23th Sec : VS Zweigen Kanazawa at Ishikawa Athletics Stadium on July 15

This sec, Okayama's starting line-up was the same as the last sec. An experienced midfield players such as Watanabe and Ito, a defender, Takeda were back on the reserve list. While, former Fagiano defender, Noda played as starter.


Three minutes after the kickoff, a young attacker, Toyokawa tried to receive a ball close to the opponent's box. Four minutes later, he failed to open the score with his header. In the 14th minute, a young striker, Ishige's shot was ballooned miles over the bar. Two minutes later, he was not able to grasp another chance. In the 27th minute, a veteran, Akamine tried to change the game, but it didn't work well. Afterwards, both clubs struggled to create chances. The first period ended in a scoreless tie.


A minute after the break, a Korean attacker, Park's shot was off target. Three minutes later, a rookie playmaker, Tsukagawa made a fantastic opener. In the 59th minute, a goal keeper, Ichimori showed a nice saving. In the 68th minute, Ishige was replaced by an experienced midfielder, Watanabe. In the 77th minute, Park added an excellent second with his corner. Later, An attacker, Ito came off the bench. Right after that, Okayama conceded a goal. In the 85th minute, a defender, Takeda came in to secure his team's victory. As a result, the red-uniformed men successfully defeated the rival.

Match Preview 23th Sec : VS Zweigen Kanazawa at Ishikawa Athletics Stadium on July 15

At the 7th sec, Okayama struggled to take the initiative of the game. During the match, a goal keeper, Ichimori showed several fine savings to encourage his teammates. However, right before the end of the match, the red-uniformed men shockingly conceded a clincher and obtained no point. 



An experienced forward, Sato is a key player. He has already scored nine goals with 22 appearances so far. The red-uniformed defenders are required to mark him with an extra care. Former Fagiano defender, Noda is expected to play as a starter.


On July 8, Kanazawa faced the top-placed club, Avispa Fukuoka. During the match, Zweigen aggressively kept pushing forward. Kanazawa's playmaker, Sugiura scored two goals, bringing a victory to his team. Kanazawa now stay in the 17th place with 28 points.

Match Review 22th Sec : VS Tokyo Verdy at Ajinomoto Stadium on July 9

A veteran defender, Sawaguchi was back in the starting line-up since the club's legend, Kaji didn't appear because of his injury. A rookie playmaker, Takeda stood by as a substitute. While, Tokyo's Brazilan attacker, Alan Lopes Pinheiro was listed as a starter.


Seven minutes after the kickoff, a young attacker, Ishige's free kick was denied. Three minutes later, his corner was cleared by the rival again. In the 13rd minute, a goal keeper, Ichimori showed a fine saving. In the 20th minute, a rookie playmaker, Tsukagawa almost found the net. In the 31st minute, he failed to provide a cross. In the 40th minute, a young striker, Toyokawa smashed the net with a superb opener, provided by an attacker, Katayama. Later, a playmaker, Sekido tried to add a second, but it was blocked by Verdy's keeper.


Three minutes after the break, Toyokawa tried to provide a cross. Afterwards, Okayama's defenders made a good showing. In the 65th minute, Ishige stroke a mid-ranged shot, but it was off target. After that, a veteran forward, Akamine was not able to grasp a chance with his cross. In the 75th minute, Fagiano conceded an equalizer. Later, a head coach, Nagasawa sent three men, Fujimoto, Otake and Kukita to finalize the match. In the 83rd minute, Akamine nearly scored a clincher, passed by Otake. During the added time, Otake's corner did not worked well, therefore, Okayama were not able to defeat the rival.

Match Preview 22th Sec : VS Tokyo Verdy at Ajinomoto Stadium on July 9

On April 2, Okayama were disappointedly defeated by Tokyo. The red-uniformed attackers aggressively pushed forward to make an opening goal, however, During the second half, the rival's defender, Anzai scored a clincher. Later, Okayama were not able to equalize the match. 


As of now, Tokyo stay in the fifth place with 34 points, four points ahead of Okayama. Verdy's top scorer is a Brazilan attacker, Alan Lopes Pinheiro. He has already scored nine goals so far.  Okayama's defenders are required to mark him with an extra care.


At last sec, Tokyo faced Roasso Kumamoto. During the match, they showed a poor performance. Tokyo had less possession and chances, while, Kumamoto scored four goals in the driving seat. Verdy were shockingly defeated by Roasso.

Emperor's cup 2017:The club advanced to the third round

On June 21st, Okayama made a thin victory against Japan football club, Imabari FC in penalty kicks. At the match, some products of the club such as Ishikawa, Kato, played as a starter and showed good performances. However, during the game, they couldn't get a game-deciding score.


At the next round on July 12th, the red-uniformed men face, J league division 3 club, AC Nagano Parceiro in the rival's home stadium. Nagano made a giant-killing against division 1 powerful club, FC Tokyo at the second round.


In Nagano, there are two former Okayama attackers, Arata and Kobayashi. They can be ones to watch out for. The match is expected to be heated and tough.

Match Review 21th Sec : VS Mito Hollyhock at City Light Stadium on July 1

Okayama's head coach, Nagasawa placed the same starting line-up as the last sec. A young attacker, Fujimoto was listed on the reserve list. He was expected to play as a chance-taker. While, Mito's key player, Maeda played as a starter.


During the match, Okayama took the initiative of the game. In the 3rd minute, a Korean attacker, Park tried to open the score with his header, crossed by a young attacker, Ishige. Four minutes later, a playmaker, Sekido's attempt was blocked by the opponent. In the 17th minute, another playmaker, Tsukagawa's header hit the bar. Two minutes later, Ishige almost found the net. In the 23rd minute, Akamine stroke an excellent header, bringing the home club an opener. Afterwards, the visitors aggressively kept pushing forward. In the 44th minute, Ishige failed to add a second. Before the break, a goal keeper, Ichimori showed a fine saving.


Eight minutes after the interval, Akamine's shot was denied by Mito's goal keeper. In the 56th minute, Ishige's corner was blocked by the rival. In the 60th minute, Ishige failed to provide a through pass with Akamine. Five minutes later, the young striker blazed the ball, but it was off target. Later, Nagasawa sent two defenders, Sawaguchi, Kukita and an experienced playmaker, Otake to the pitch. In the 82th minute, Otake added a superb second, provided by Park. Six minutes later, Park ballooned the ball. During the added time, Akamine smashed a clincher, defeating the fourth-placed club.
