Last year, the club won the division 3 League and secured their promotion to the upper league. Kitakyushu is back in the division 2 for the first time in four years. Their priority is to survive in the tough league.

Match Review 3rd Sec : VS Jubilo Iwata at Yamaha Stadium on July 5

This sec, an experienced right back, Mukuhara started the game for the first time this season. Rookie defender, Noguchi stood by as a substitute. Okayama never beat the rival in their history.
During the match, Arima's men struggled to dominate the game. However, in the 13rd minute, Mukuhara made a cross to an attacker, Shimizu, waiting close to the opponent's box. The campaign finally restarted. Brazilian playmaker, Paulinho started the game. And also, Matsuki was on the starting line-up for the first time in his football carreer. An experienced attacker, Saito was back as a substitute from an injury list.

Match Preview 2nd Sec : VS Renofa Yamaguchi at City Light Stadium on June 27
At last, J league division 2 restart. The club will be on a tight schedule this season. Renofa target to finish in top six this year as well as Okayama. This is PRIDE OF CHUSHIKOKU Derby for the first time in 2020 so that the game is expected to be heated even through it is crowdless game.
Before the new season, Yamaguchi signed some talented players such as Brazilian midfielder, Henik and veteran defender, Kikuchi. One of the key players is an attacker, Takai who has scored 8 goals in 38 appearances last year.
