Start-up for 2020 season

On January 12, the club held a press conference for the upcoming season. Needless to say, the club's goal is to promote to the upper league. The head coach, Arima is highly expected to lead the outfit to the upper league.


Last year, Okayama ended up in the 9th place, losing the ticket to the playoffs at the 41st sec. The red-uniformed club are highly expected to show more stable performances throughout the year.


After 2019 season, the club signed with several talented players to reinforce their strengths even though some main forces such as Nakama and Ichimori left the club.

2019 Season Review:Several players remained sidelined throughout the season

In 2019, Okayama finished at the 9th position with 65 points out of 22 club. The outfit had the chance to advance to the playoffs as of 40th sec, but finally, they failed again.


Last term, the red-uniform men were constantly in a good form and kept themselves in the mid-table of the league, however, they struggled to approach to the top group because some players got injured.


During the season, several main forces got injured and missed some matches, therefore the club signed with some young attackers such as Nakano and Yamamoto. However, afterwards, they also went on the injury list.


Last term, the club struggled to defeat some powerful clubs like former the division 1 clubs. In order to secure the ticket to the upper league in 2020, the club must reduce injuries.

The club's transfer information #5 / 2019

Forward, Nakama decided to return for his former club, Kashiwa Reysol. He was the one key players in 2019 with 15 goals in 40 appearances. Therefore, outfit require to look for an attacker to cover up for him.


Young play maker, Takeda made a loan contract with the division rival,  Ventforet Kofu. He appeared in 27 matches with one goal. He is expected to come back to Okayama in the near future.


The club signed with Brazilian playmaker, Paulinho from relegated club, Matsumoto Yamaga FC. He scored one goal in 28 appearances in the division 1. He is expected to encourage his teammates with his passionate spirits

Fagiano Legend File No. 6 : Daiki IWAMASA


This legend defender joined from Thai powerful club, BEC Tero Sasana FC in 2015 at age of 33. Before he went to Thai, he had played for a powerful club in the division 1, Kashima Antlers for ten years. While he was in Kashima, he led the team to three straight championships in the division 1 league. He was selected as an international for 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.


Before 2015 season, his participation became a big news in Okayama city. He brought his passionate spirit to his team and mainly played as a centre back. This veteran was very influential for less-experienced young players.   



During the two seasons, he had an established presence in the club. He was excellent with heading so that he scored four goals in 2015 and six goals in 2016 respectively even though he positions at centre back. After 2016 season, This captain announced that he would leave the club, taking the responsibility for the failure to promote for the division 1 league in 2016.

2019:Renofa Yamaguchi stay in mid table

In 2019, Yamaguchi were not able to compete for the playoffs throughout the season line 2018 season. The club ended up in the 15th place.


They constantly scored goals during the term. Their total goal in 2018 was 54 goals. Young talents such as Yamashita and Takai scored 11 goals and 8 goals respectively.


In contrast, it is obvious that their defensive strength must be enhanced. They conceded 70 goals in 2019, which is six goals more than 2018. The outfit are required to sign with some talented defenders.
